LYNTRX.
From drawings to asset record.
Our own software for tram and trolleybus overhead lines: it turns existing drawings into a verified dataset and keeps the asset record up to date afterwards – in the office, on site and in operation.
The asset record sits in the drawing archive – not in a model
Every tram and trolleybus operator keeps its overhead line in 2D drawings. They are to scale, technically dense and maintained over decades – but they are not data. Renewal, maintenance, abnormal-load routes and BIM deliveries all need verifiable information: where each pole stands, what type it is, what hangs on it, which forces act and how high the contact wire is.
A new survey is expensive, manual transfer is too – and only as reliable as the attention paid at every single support. From more than 14 years in the overhead line industry we know this problem first-hand. That is why LYNTRX was conceived as a product from the start, not as a one-off tool: the drawing is the source. Whatever it contains is read and cross-checked; whatever it does not is reported as a finding or a declared assumption.
Two building blocks, one dataset
LYNTRX3D creates the asset record, LYNTRX360 keeps it alive. Both work on the same asset dataset – when the installation changes, it is updated rather than captured again.
LYNTRX3D
Extension for AutoCAD and Civil 3D: reads layers, blocks, pole stamps and drawing texts, cross-checks the dataset and builds the 3D component model on the terrain.
Cross-checks and findings
Contact wire height, stagger, span, suspension angle and catenary shape are checked against the operator’s standards – every finding with drawing excerpt, measured and target value.
Statics and documents
Catenary statics per structure, cross and longitudinal profiles, installation sequence with QR codes, bills of quantities and asset register – generated together from one state.
LYNTRX360
Platform for everyone working with the result: documents per project and support, findings, statics and 3D model in the browser, with feedback on every entry.
App for the site
For iPhone and iPad: uses the location to show which support you are standing at, assigns photos by coordinates and makes profiles, installation sheets and statics available on site.
LYNTRX3D Basic
The general CAD tools – swisstopo data, layers, project and sheets – are available as a separate download.

What we hold LYNTRX to
Invent nothing
If the drawing lacks a value, it is reported as a finding or declared assumption – visible in the report, even where it works in favour of the result.
Capture once
An operator’s layers, blocks and stamps are validated against its standards once per drawing standard – every further section starts directly at the dataset.
Update, don’t re-capture
After a modification the existing dataset is adjusted; model, statics and documents are then regenerated together.
Open formats
IFC 4.3 with component properties, 3D DWG, KMZ and tables in LV95 – the data can be maintained without a LYNTRX licence.
The tool chain is in place – the libraries keep growing
The chain from extraction through the asset dataset to model, statics and documents is in place for trams and trolleybuses. We extend the component libraries with every drawing set, because pole types, foundation tables and standard heights differ between operators not only in their values but in the selection logic itself.
Operators and engineering firms who come in now feed the requirements of their own network straight into development. For a first section of one to two kilometres, the drawing sheets as CAD files and the operator’s standards are enough.
